About Me

I was born and raised in Portland, OR, and remain a Portlander at heart, having deep emotional connections to Burgerville, Powell’s, and Fabric Depot (RIP). I attended Portland State University, where I majored in English and minored in Business and Film, also studying desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite), and web design (HTML/CSS & WordPress).
I moved to Yakima, WA, when I met my husband, initially working in retail design and aesthetics, until being offered a position as the stationery buyer and merchandise planner at Inklings Bookshop. I’ve always had a good eye and business head, and that was the perfect role to make full use of both.
When my husband and I relocated to Southern California, I spent much of my time in contract and freelance roles, which was a great way to get to know the market landscape of Los Angeles while also keeping busy.
After the COVID shutdown of 2020, I determined that the unpredictable freelance model was perhaps not the best fit for a “professional overthinker” like myself, so I transitioned into a role at Skyrocket Education (where my husband also works!). My focus there mainly centers on their internal client services website, as well as several other design and data driven projects for multiple departments. And the work-life balance this affords means I can curate my freelance work more closely to projects that really excite me. It’s truly the best of both worlds.
